President’s Corner

            It’s hard to believe that Pinion and its members are embarking on their 17th year of supporting Special Olympics Broward County and its Athletes, both financially and through our volunteer efforts.  I am quite honored and privileged to serve as your President this year and I hope to get all of our members and their friends “Hooked on Pinion Forever.”  That is our theme for this year and my goal.  We really want all of you to become active members and support our special athletes and Special Olympics Broward County forever. 

            Please do not be surprised when you receive a call this year asking you to volunteer to serve on a committee, to volunteer for the Summer Games, to volunteer at an event or social, to make phone calls and to assist in obtaining sponsors or auction items.  We will be calling upon you this year and challenging every member to contribute to our cause in any way that you can.  As you know from attending our events and socials, the Board and our members are quite a fun group.  We know how to mix business and fundraising with pleasure and hope that you will join in the fun this year.   

            We are kicking off the season with our annual Fall luncheon and fashion show – “Champagne & Chocolates” – being held at the Capital Grille on September 26 and hope that you will join us as we celebrate the coming year.  And please mark your calendars for our annual Holiday Event to be held Friday, December 5, which is our signature event and major fundraising event.  It is a night that you will not want to miss and a night to remember.

            This year promises to be very exciting.  We are pleased and honored to announce that BROWARD HEALTH will be a Champion Sponsor donating $25,000 to Special Olympics Broward County and Pinion.  We couldn’t ask for a better start to our year, especially in light of the current economic trend and conditions.
