President’s Corner

Giving Thanks....As
we come into this time of year and the holiday season...we are
reminded that this is a time of celebration of all of things we are
thankful for in our daily lives.
We celebrate good things and take time to give thanks.
On behalf of the Board of Directors,
we are thankful to all of our members, sponsors and volunteers for
helping Pinion to give back to the Athlete's of Special Olympics
Broward County and the individuals in The Victory Living Programs.
Our pre-season event
"A Pinch of Humor" held at
The Hilton Fort Lauderdale
Beach Resort was a great success.
Thank you to Valerie Peru who introduced Pinion to
The Hilton's Blue Energy Team.
The Blue Energy Team of the Hilton, is charged with raising
awareness and building relationships with the community and we are
so glad that they chose Pinion to partner with for this great event!
The Chairs Terry, Alice and Leslie worked creatively and very hard to welcome
over 100 guests to this premier property for an interactive dinner
featuring The Hilton's
Executive Chef, Sean McDonald.
We look forward to sharing future events with The Hilton.
Our Membership luncheon,
"Cocktails, Cougars and Cowboy's" took place at
The Capital Grille, Fort
Lauderdale. The
Chairs Lisa, Lee and Alice raise the bar on this event year after year!
The management at The Capital Grille, Chef Marc, Angela, and Ron
and
the wonderful staff went all out to set the scene for an
elegant lunch with the libations flowing compliments of
Premier Beverages. Once
again, thank you to all who attended and supported us.
We will kick off the Holiday season in
exquisite style this year.
Our signature Holiday Event will be on
Friday, December 2nd at
the private estate of Jim and
Carol Stein in Harbor Beach.
We are so thankful to them for opening their home to our
Pinion family.
Join us at our Victory Living Programs
holiday party on Saturday,
December 10. This is
a day where all who attend are reminded what giving back is all
about. We give gifts to
the residents in the VLP program and their reactions and
appreciation is truly heartwarming.
At our membership luncheon, I talked
about an article "Giving is good for you" and referenced why
altruistic behavior makes us stronger as people and as a community.
It said that Altruism taps into the human instincts:
"It is very important for many
people to feel that they are going to leave the world a better
place" The study showed
that people are hardwired to feel fulfilled through behaving
charitably...it feels good to help and to give and it is an agent
for fellowship.
Everyone helps to build Pinion's
fellowship and we have fun doing what we do!
Our Membership continues to grow and we are thankful to all
of our supporters. If
you are not a member, please join and get involved with us
volunteering on a event or at the upcoming Special Olympic Games in
March 2012! We have
given back over $2 million dollars and we could not have
accomplished this without our dedicated Board of Directors, our
membership and sponsors...I give thanks to all who help Pinion and
take the time to help us give back.
With warmth,
Debra
